Online task 2a and 2b: Writing an abstract
To be handed in on August 19th (Thursday)

Task 2a: Watch the videos on youtube, read the guidelines and take notes.

Task 2b:


At the bottom of the page there are 3 examples of good abstracts for research projects and parts of 4 abstracts with some things to avoid.

Comment on each one of the 3 abstracts and show with, examples,  why they are ok.

Comment on each one of the 4 abstracts with things to avoid and show with, examples,  why they are NOT ok.


Commentary guidelines

After you watch the videos and read the guidelines and abstracts suggested above (taking notes), answer the following questions and turn them in on Aug. 19th, 2010.

1. What did you learn by doing tasks 2a and 2b? Give specific examples.

2. If you were to suggest these videos or site to a college mate, what would you emphasize? This should be a commentary about the task and not a summary or a description of what you did. You should identify important aspects of the task, discuss each of those in turn, illustrating with examples from the site or video.

3. Make any other comments about the task if necessary.
