Online Task 3

Task 3 – Improving an abstract

In order to do this task you need to

1. reread the fourth abstract presented in “In-class task abstract” done on Aug. 19th to refresh your memory that it needs improvement in two moves (Swales and Feak 2009): 4 (results) and 5 (conclusions or practical applications). If you missed class, I am attaching the handout for you.

2) read the article attached Hegelheimer (2006) from which I extracted the abstract and take notes about the results and conclusion. The file has the full article which is long. Since the topic is related to our course I suggest that:
a) first read it taking notes about their results and conclusion (it means that you should read sections Results and Discussion;
b) write 2 or 3 sentences that could be added to the abstract;
c) read the whole article with the objective of learning more about iwrite (the online resource he presents). You may want to visit his site http://www.greatsource.com/iwrite/

Please turn in the 2 or 3 sentences you wrote that could be added to Hegelheimer´s abstract. Include our course heading and turn it in on Aug. 26th (Thursday).

Hope you will enjoying doing this different task this week.
